Gopinathan<\/strong> is a renowned Pulmonologist and Chest Specialist, known for his distinguished service in both the Indian Armed Forces and the civilian medical sector. He is the elder son of <strong>Late Sukapurath Karunakara Pisharody<\/strong> and <strong>Late Vattenat Pisharath Narayanikkutty Pisharasiar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After passing SSLC with first class, he pursued his higher education at <strong>St. Thomas College, Thrissur<\/strong>, and later obtained his <strong>MBBS degree from Calicut Medical College<\/strong>. Driven by a commitment to serve, he joined the <strong>Indian Army<\/strong> as a <strong>Regimental Medical Officer (RMO)<\/strong>. Rising through the ranks, he served as <strong>Captain<\/strong>, <strong>Major<\/strong>, and ultimately retired as a <strong>Colonel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During his military career, he also completed his <strong>MD in Pulmonology<\/strong>, and served as a <strong>Professor at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC)<\/strong>, a prestigious institution in military medical education. He retired from the Armed Forces in <strong>1998<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Post-retirement, Dr. Gopinathan continued his medical service as <strong>Professor and Head of the Department<\/strong> at <strong>Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi<\/strong>. He also extended his expertise at leading hospitals including <strong>Jubilee Mission Hospital, West Fort Hospital<\/strong>, and <strong>Mother Hospital<\/strong>, all in <strong>Thrissur<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His expertise spans a wide range of pulmonary conditions such as <strong>asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, lung cancer, interstitial and occupational lung diseases<\/strong>, as well as complex <strong>lung and pleural infections including tuberculosis, pulmonary hypertension<\/strong>, and <strong>cystic fibrosis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He has been honored as a <strong>Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP)<\/strong>, recognizing his excellence and contribution to the field of chest medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Gopinathan has also played a significant role in community service. As the <strong>President of the Pisharody Samajam<\/strong>, he was instrumental in establishing the organization\u2019s <strong>Headquarters building in Thrissur<\/strong>, a milestone achievement during his tenure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He is married to <strong>Shyamala<\/strong>, from <strong>Thonnanagamath Pisharam<\/strong>, and they have a daughter, <strong>Supriya<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Col.
