His father was <strong>Vazhappilly Nampoothiri<\/strong>, and his mother was <strong>Kunji Pisharasyar<\/strong>. He had two brothers: <strong>Karunakara Pisharody<\/strong> and <strong>Bharatha Pisharody<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He married <strong>Kuttamasseri Ichukkutty Pisharasyar<\/strong>, and they had two children:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Kuttamasseri Narayana Pisharody<\/strong>, who later became the Principal of Government Sanskrit College, Thripunithura.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ammukkutty Pisharasyar<\/strong>, who married <strong>Prof. K. Rama Pisharody<\/strong> (his nephew and a professor at Annamalai University).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To distinguish between the two Rama Pisharodys, he was referred to as <strong>Valiya Rama Pisharody<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Education &amp; Scholarly Development<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After losing his parents at an early age, Rama Pisharody was brought up by his maternal uncle <strong>Achyutha Pisharody<\/strong>. At the age of 11, he moved to <strong>Thripunithura<\/strong>, where his formal education in <strong>Astrology<\/strong>, <strong>Vyakarana Shastra<\/strong>, and other classical disciplines began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He studied <strong>Dinakari<\/strong> under the king himself and learned <strong>Gadhadhari<\/strong> alongside <strong>Parikshit Thampuran<\/strong>, the royal prince of Thripunithura, under <strong>Madhavacharya<\/strong>. During this time, a close bond formed between Rama Pisharody and Parikshit Thampuran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Friendship with Parikshit Thampuran<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their friendship became legendary. Parikshit Thampuran greatly admired Rama Pisharody for his intelligence, wit, and scholarship. He considered him deserving of the title <strong>\u201cSahrudaya Thilakan\u201d<\/strong>, and their camaraderie was famously described by <strong>Ulloor S. Parameswara Iyer<\/strong> as being like the mixture of \u201c<strong>milk and sugar<\/strong>\u201d. The depth of their relationship was also acknowledged by Rama Pisharody\u2019s own son in his writings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Academic Career<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>1890 (Age 23):<\/strong> Began his teaching career at <strong>Seshacharya Padasala<\/strong> (now Government Sanskrit College, Thripunithura).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1903 (Age 36):<\/strong> Appointed <strong>Senior Sanskrit Pandit<\/strong> at <strong>Maharaja&#8217;s College, Ernakulam<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1922:<\/strong> Retired from formal teaching.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Post-retirement, he remained actively engaged in <strong>writing<\/strong>, <strong>debates<\/strong>, and <strong>educating children at the royal palace<\/strong>. He served as the <strong>Asthana Pandithan (Court Scholar)<\/strong> of the <strong>Royal Palace of Thripunithura<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Demise<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rama Pisharody passed away in <strong>1947<\/strong>, at the age of <strong>80<\/strong>, due to asthma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Titles &amp; Honors<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>1915:<\/strong> Conferred the honorary title <strong>\u201cSahrudayathilakan\u201d<\/strong>.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Simultaneously, <strong>Kunju Nampoothiri<\/strong> and <strong>Ayya Shasthrikal<\/strong> were honored with the titles <strong>\u201cTharkikha Thilakan\u201d<\/strong> and <strong>\u201cShabdika Thilakan\u201d<\/strong>, respectively.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1922:<\/strong> Received <strong>\u201cPattum Valayum\u201d<\/strong> (a royal honor) from <strong>Edward VIII<\/strong> at the <strong>Madras Senate Hall<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Literary Contributions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rama Pisharody was a prolific writer, commentator, and scholar.
