Ottappalam Hari is a prominent figure in Kerala’s rich tradition of percussion music, particularly in the art forms of Thayampaka and Panchavadyam. A highly accomplished Chenda and Thimila artist, he has mesmerized audiences with his dynamic performances, especially at temple festivals across Central Kerala.

For the past 18 years, he has been a key performer in the prestigious Thiruvambadi Madathil Varavu Panchavadyam at the world-famous Thrissur Pooram, cementing his reputation as a master percussionist.

Born on May 30, 1985, to Susheela Pisharasiar and Narayana Pisharody of Nellampani Pisharam, Chunangad, Ottappalam, Hari exhibited a keen interest in percussion from a young age. He trained in Thimila under Shri Chunangad Mohanan and mastered the Chenda under the guidance of Shri Mayannur Raju.

A versatile artist, Hari is known for his innovative approaches to Thimila, incorporating it into diverse musical formats such as Sopana Padakkacheri, Thimilathayambaka, Fusion, and Harmomila (a percussion ensemble he developed). His musical knowledge extends beyond traditional instruments; he has also learned Mridangam and Tabla, showcasing his wide-ranging expertise.

His exceptional talent was recognized early when he secured second place in Thayampaka at the Kerala State School Youth Festival (Yuvajanolsavam) in 2000.

Hari has also made his mark internationally, performing at renowned venues including the Dubai Festival in the UAE, representing Kerala’s traditional music on the global stage.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Calicut University.

K. P. Nandakumar is a renowned Malayalam devotional lyricist known for his unique poetic style that resonates deeply with the hearts of devotees. His lyrics, rich with devotion and emotion, have carved a special place in the realm of Malayalam spiritual music.

Sandra began her journey in Mohiniyattam at the age of five and gave her Arangettam (debut performance) in 2008. Since then, she has been an active performer with the Natanakaisiki troupe. Trained in the traditional gurukula sampradaya, she underwent rigorous abhinaya training under Guru Venuji and Guru Nirmala Paniker.

She is a graded artist (‘B’ Grade) of Doordarshan Kendra since 2014 and was selected by the South Zone Cultural Centre, Ministry of Culture, for special coaching in Mohiniyattam. In 2017, she was awarded the Junior Fellowship by Kalavaahini Trust, Chennai.

Sandra has performed extensively across India and abroad, gracing prestigious platforms including Tokyo, Brisbane, Soorya Festival, Swaralaya Festival, Nishagandhi Festival, Mohini Nrityathi Festival, and the India International Centre, New Delhi. Chithra Arun

Chithra Arun is a gifted singer hailing from Mundur, Palakkad, and is well known for her contributions to the Malayalam film industry and devotional/music albums. She made her playback singing debut in the Malayalam film “House Full”, marking the beginning of a promising musical journey.

Prof. Dr. Anayath Rajendrakumar, proudly identifying himself as a teacher, is a distinguished Indian educationist, researcher, and consultant with over 25 years of experience in result-oriented research, consulting, and training in the global graphic arts industry. He currently serves as the Vice Chancellor of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (D.C.R.U.S.T.), a Haryana State Government Science & Technology University located in Murthal, Haryana. He has also previously served as the Vice Chancellor of Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, the first women’s university in North India.

In 2020, Prof. Rajendrakumar was honoured with the rank of Honorary Colonel by the Government of India and appointed as the Colonel Commandant in the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Haryana.

He is globally renowned for being the first Asian recipient of the “Excellence in Print” Award—widely considered the Oscar of Printing—awarded by the Printing Industries of America in Chicago (2011) for his outstanding contributions to the global graphic arts industry. In 2013, he was conferred the “Samman Award” by the All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP) during its Diamond Jubilee celebrations, presented by Dr. K. Rosaiah, then Governor of Tamil Nadu.

A proponent of the “New Industrial Convergence Theory”, he has travelled extensively across the globe for academic collaborations, research, seminars, and institutional tie-ups. He has served as Director of the Technological Institute of Textiles and Sciences (TIT&S) in Bhiwani, Haryana, and is a highly reputed academician in the field of Print and Media Technology.

Prof. Dr. Anayath Rajendrakumar hails from the renowned Anayath Pisharam, a culturally rich Pisharody family in Thiruvegappura, a scenic village on the banks of the river Thutha in Kerala. Notably, this is the same Pisharam that was home to Anayath Krishna Pisharody, the spiritual guru of Manavedan Raja, the Zamorin King of Kozhikode and creator of the classical Sanskrit dance-drama “Krishnattam”, based on the text Krishnageethi.

K.P. Balakrishnan, IFS (Retd)

K.P. Balakrishnan, a distinguished officer of the Indian Foreign Service, was born in 1940 to Aattor Nedumbrakkal Pisharath Late Madhavi Pisharassiar and Late Aryavaidyan N.P. Krishna Pisharody.

After completing his M.Sc. from Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam, he began his career as a Professor in various colleges across Kerala. In 1963, he was selected for the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and went on to serve in various Indian consulates around the world.

His notable diplomatic assignments include:

  • Ambassador of India to Yemen (1986–1989)
  • Ambassador to Ethiopia, Djibouti, and the Vatican

Following his retirement from the Foreign Service in 2000, he continued his diplomatic engagement as the Commonwealth Advisor to the Foreign Office of Guyana during 2001–2002.

Since 2002, he has been residing in Thrissur.
