Smita Vaideeshwaran is a well-known dancer and poet based in Bangalore. Her journey in classical dance began with her early training in Bharatanatyam under Barnali Choudhury in Kolkata. She further refined her skills under Shri Chinnamannur Krishnakumar at the prestigious Kalakshetra in Chennai. Currently, she continues her advanced training under Smt. Radhika Ayyankar in Bangalore.
In addition to classical forms, Smita has also gained proficiency in folk and western dance styles. She is particularly recognized for her creative fusion and expression in contemporary dance, where she skillfully integrates elements from various traditions.
Currently she has been running a multidisciplinary fine arts institution named Sapthavarna Academy of Fine Arts in Bangalore, offering a range of classes. She is also actively involved in choreography.
In 2018, she had the opportunity to choreograph for the Bangalore Miss World competitions. She also performed at Pisharody Samajam’s Thrissur District Youth Festival, Panchari and Sarggolsavam 2024 and contributed to the theme song choreography of Panchari.
Smita is also an accomplished poet, having published several poetry collections:

Academically, Smita holds a B.Sc. in Zoology from Kolkata University and a postgraduate degree (M.Sc.) in Ecology & Environmental Science from Pondicherry University. Professionally, she works as an Insurance Advisor with Tata AIA Insurance Company.
