Sandhya Ramesh Pisharody is a gifted Carnatic and Hindustani vocalist, music teacher, and performer based in Mumbai. Hailing from a musically enriched family, her journey into the world of music was a natural progression. She is widely recognized as one of the talented Malayalee singers and music educators in Mumbai today.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English, along with the following music and language qualifications:
- Visharad in Hindustani Music
- Vidwan in Hindi
- Vidwan in Sanskrit
Currently, she serves as a music teacher at Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya, Juhu, Mumbai.
Career Highlights
Sandhya began her teaching career at V.K. Krishna Menon Academy in MHB Colony, under the aegis of the Borivali Malayali Samajam. The school was among the first to formally introduce music and dance as academic subjects. There, she taught light music, patriotic songs in Hindi and English, and Gita chanting.
She also teaches Carnatic music at the Borivali Malayali Samajam Fine Arts, an institution formally inaugurated during Vijayadasami in October 2015. Beyond institutional teaching, she conducts private music lessons across Mumbai and its suburbs and runs her own academy—Sharada Music Academy.

Sandhya has given over 500 public performances, including:
- Classical music concerts in Kerala and Mumbai
- Semi-classical and devotional programs at various temples across Maharashtra
She is a respected judge for numerous music competitions organized by Malayali samajams and cultural organizations across Mumbai and surrounding areas.

Musical Roots & Training
Sandhya’s musical journey began at the age of five. Her earliest training came from her mother Nooleli Pisharath Kusumam, father Nayathod Pisharath Damodara Pisharody, and her grandmothers—all of whom were musically inclined. This strong family foundation nurtured her passion and talent in music from an early age.
She has also released a musical album titled “Sooryagayathri”, comprising 10 original songs.
Personal Life
Sandhya is married to Ramesh, son of Manjeeri Pisharath Balakrishnan and Thonnangamath Pisharath Sethulakshmi. They have two sons, Ankit and Archith.
