Dr. Smitha Pisharody is a renowned Carnatic vocalist, lyricist, veena player, playback singer, and music therapist. She currently serves as a Music Therapist at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala.
Her musical journey began with a strong academic and performance background in Carnatic music. She has given over 60 public concerts, both as a vocalist and a veena artist, and is a graded artist (vocal) of All India Radio, Thiruvananthapuram.
Dr. Smitha started her career in media as an Announcer with All India Radio, Thiruvananthapuram, and later became the host of the popular morning show โPonpulariโ on Surya TV. She also worked as a newsreader on Surya TV and went on to host several television programs on Amrita TV, Kairali TV, and Doordarshan, all while pursuing her collegiate education.
As a lyricist, she has written songs for Malayalam films, devotional albums, TV serials, and other musical productions. As a singer, she has contributed to numerous devotional music albums, advertisements, radio programs, and TV serials.

- Certificate of Honor from the Indian Institute of Scientific Heritage (IISH), Thiruvananthapuram for her contributions to music therapy and Carnatic music.
- Best Delegate Award at the International Seminar โNadam 2015โ organized by Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.
- Best News Reader Award from the Adoor Bhasi Cultural Forum (2012).
- Thiruvizha Raghavapanikar Memorial Award in 1999 and 2002 from Ranjini Sangeetha Sabha, Kottayam for academic excellence in music.
- Winner in South Zone, International, and SAARC Youth Festivals, representing the University of Kerala in 2000 and 2001.
- State-level prize winner for the Essay Writing Competition conducted by the Kerala Forest Department (1994).
- Kalathilakam title winner in 1993 and 1994 at sub-district school level arts festivals.
