Dr. Raman Ramachandran is a distinguished leader with a proven track record of steering organizations across Asia Pacific and South Asia to sustainable success. With over two decades of leadership experience at BASF, the world’s largest chemical company, he has held several prominent positions including:
- Asia Pacific Business Head for BASF’s Agricultural Products
- Head of BASF South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka)
- Chairman & Managing Director, BASF India Ltd.
After retiring from BASF in March 2019, Dr. Ramachandran took on the role of Managing Director & CEO of PI Industries, where he served until stepping down from the operational role on 31st December 2021. He continues to contribute as a Board Member of PI Industries.
An academic at heart, Dr. Ramachandran holds a Ph.D. in Agriculture from the University of Adelaide, Australia. He began his career in academic research, working at prestigious international research institutions including:
- ICIPE, Kenya
- IRRI, Philippines
- University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA
He was recently honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Chemical & Petrochemicals group of FICCI, recognizing his significant contributions to the industry.
Dr. Ramachandran is also a certified leadership coach, deeply passionate about organizational energy, leadership development, and nurturing future leaders.
Personal Life:
He is married to Lata Ramachandran and is the proud father of two daughters, Deepika and Amita.
